Barcelona wins Champions League
Barcelona last night rejoiced as the team won it’s third European title of the season – the Champions League. After having already won the Spanish League Title and the Spanish Cup, Barcelona certainly proved a challenge for previous trophy holders Manchester United .
Man Utd, who have remained undefeated for 26 matches, were at a loss after the first ten minutes in which several glorious opportunities for first goal were unfulfilled leaving Barcelona to take the ball from a demotivated team and score the first of two goals at the tenth minute.
The manager of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson described the defense as “shoddy”. Messi and Eto’o were the goal scorers for Barcelona, aided by a team that kept possession for long periods of time and were more confident that an almost uninspired Manchester United.
By the end of the match, Barcelonians that seemingly made up the majority of the 72,000 at Olympic Stadium held cameras high setting off a multitude of flashes from around the stadium as the trophy was held high and confetti dropped from the rooftops.
